I Got Styled on the Indyx App
As a professional organizer, I love finding systems that make everyday life easier. But sometimes, even when you know how to create a system, you need a little help making it work for your actual life.
With ADHD, decision fatigue hits hard and fast. Getting dressed can involve a huge number of decisions.
What goes together? What feels good today? What works for the weather, my plans, and whatever sensory preferences my brain has decided are nonnegotiable?
By the time I’ve answered all those questions, I might not have the spoons left to tackle the rest of my day.
The frustrating part is that I want to feel good in what I’m wearing. I want outfits that feel like me, make me happy, and work for my life. I just don’t always have the mental energy to figure them out from scratch. When your closet is full of possibilities but every possibility requires more decisions and thinking, getting dressed can feel less like a fun form of self-expression and more like another overwhelming task on an already-too-long to-do list.
Sometimes, I don’t want to brain. Enter Indyx.
Indyx is a closet app that I’ve been using for several years and already love. On top of the wardrobe catalogging it already does, it also offers some cool extra features, such as personalized styling by professional stylists. The idea of having someone help me create outfits from clothes I already own sounded like a potentially game-changing way to take some of that mental load off my plate.
So I decided to give it a try. Could Indyx help me spend less energy deciding what to wear while still feeling confident and comfy in my outfits? Could a little advance planning make getting dressed easier on my low-spoon days?
Here’s what happened when I got styled on the Indyx app—and whether I think it could help other people who are tired of spending their precious spoons just trying to get dressed.
Step 1: Choose a Stylist
First things first, you’ll want to ensure your entire wardrobe is uploaded before trying out styling. It takes time, but - good news - they even offer a service where they will come and upload your entire closet FOR YOU. It’s awesome.
Anyway, I have my entire closet already ready to go. So the next step was to choose my stylist.
They have a long list of professional stylists to choose from, all with different experience and expertise. You can compare them based on price level, reviews, and photos, as well as outfits they’ve designed in the past. It makes it really easy to find someone you like.
Here’s a view of what their profiles look like:
I ended up choosing Nathalie, because I loved her colorful, whimsical style. I chose the Lookbook I wanted and boom - we got started!
Step 2: The Lookbook Questionnaire
Now that I had chosen my stylist, it was time to fill out the Lookbook questionnaire. This little quiz gives the stylist more information about you, your style, and what you’re looking for so they can deliver awesome results! It’s fairly short and really easy.
It lets you tailor the experience exactly to what you’re wanting, which I love. They can even build you a capsule wardrobe!

Step 3: The Waiting Period
Once I submitted the Lookbook Questionnaire, it was time to wait! I got a notification that Nathalie saw my request and it was in her queue.
Once she looked through my questionnaire, she gave me a timeline on when I could expect the Lookbook to be completed: October 1st.
That was about 2 weeks after I had purchased a Lookbook, which was perfect! I think the turnaround was really fast and allowed Nathalie enough time to be thoughtful with her decisions, too.
Step 4: The Lookbook!
Once it was ready, I got a notification on my phone that Nathalie was all done and ready for me to view what she had created. I eagerly clicked on the notification and VOILA: a beautiful set of outfits.
Each outfit shows a mood board (think Polyvore and Shoplook), a set of reactions to choose from, and a few notes from the stylist. Below are my first two outfits. As you can see, she was extremely thorough and really explained why she chose what she chose.
Saving Your Favorite Outfits Is So Easy!
Another cool little feature I discovered is the folder icon at the bottom of each outfit.
Just click it, and you can add the entire look straight to your wardrobe in one click. No need to save everything separately or try to remember where you saw it!
It's such a simple feature, but so handy when you find a look you love and want to keep it for later.
Click, save, and you're done. So easy!!!
Nathalie was originally supposed to put together just 3 outfits for me, but she went above and beyond and surprised me with even more options for free! How sweet is that?! I honestly ended up clicking the HEART on pretty much every single look because they were just that good. ❤️
She somehow managed to put together outfits that felt so me while still pushing me outside my usual style comfort zone in the best possible way. These were pieces and combinations I never would have thought to put together myself, but seeing them styled made me think, “Wait, why haven't I tried this before?!”
I loved how fresh, fun, and wearable everything felt. Needless to say, choosing my favorites was not an easy task!
So, Would I Recommend It? YES!
Honestly, I went into this not quite knowing what to expect, but I ended up having so much fun with the whole experience! I loved seeing outfits I probably wouldn't have put together myself, discovering new ways to style pieces, and finding looks that actually felt like me. And the fact that I got more outfits than expected was such a lovely bonus!
Nathalie was amazing and I gave her a 5-star review, of course!
I think sometimes we get stuck wearing the same things in the same ways, so having someone like Nathalie give you a fresh perspective can be such a great way to shake things up a little. Whether you're looking for some outfit inspiration, trying to figure out your personal style, or simply want to make getting dressed a bit more exciting, this was definitely a fun experience to try.
Now, excuse me while I go and throw on some cool new outfits! ❤️
